Training

Scott is an experienced educator. Following a positive experience delivering guest lectures to university students, Scott returned to university full-time to qualify as a teacher. As a joint-honours graduate Scott taught law and business during his teaching practice. He also gained a valuable insight into special needs education teaching during this time.

During his secondary school practice placement, Scott taught GCSE Business Studies, A-Level Business Studies, A-Level Law and KS3 Information Technology to a special educational needs class.

During his further education practice placement, Scott taught BTEC Business Studies and Access to Education courses in both law and business studies. He also taught mathematics key skills to post-16 students.

His paper – Y Cwricwlwm Cymreig: Necessary to protect the culture of a proud nation or irrelevant in an increasingly international society? was given the honour of publication in the university’s academic journal that year. The quality of his teaching was also recognised by his FE placement provider who appointed him as an Associate Lecturer.

Scott graduated with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education with Qualified Teacher Status and was quickly appointed as an Associate Lecturer at Cardiff Metropolitan University, shortly before gaining his first substantive post as a lecturer at Swansea University, where he worked for 9 years.

Whilst as lecturer at Swansea University Scott was admitted as a Fellow to the Higher Education Academy and gained a Masters in Arts in Professional Development, Education & Training at the University of Wales Trinity St David. He was subsequently appointed as a Senior Lecturer of Law & Legal Practice at Trinity, and the programme manager of the LLB and CiLEX programmes.

Scott served as the co-convenor of the Practice, Professions & Ethics subject section at the Society for Legal Scholars, during which time he co-chaired the conference track at Oxford Brookes University. As a member of the Association of Law Teachers, he also presented on introducing law education to business (entrepreneurship) students at the University of Manchester.

Scott is now a member of the Tutor Faculty at Lincoln’s Inn.

Scott is available for training within law firms. His session rate is £2500 per day (plus VAT if and when applicable) to include preparation of teaching materials.

He recognises that his daily rate means that it will be cost prohibitive to secure Scott for private 1-2-1 tuition. Nevertheless, he is willing to consider pro-bono tuition opportunities to students on a case-by-case basis.
